on the bowling alley by Ditze on the bowling alley by Ditze
~tonemapped HDRI-panorama from 7*3 shots
~Canon EOS 400D + Ef-S 17-85 IS USM

-location: F1 Bowling Center, Erfurt, Germany

tried to make a pano out of 27 sections, but I forgot to capture some sections, so it looked horrible and I could take only the middle row...

I see that now.

Bowling in car parks is no fun and is also, apparently, illegal!

Nice all the same Denis. Was the bowling alley empty? My bowling alley was demolished last year, now it is a car park :(

It wasn't really empty...
on the rights side you can see still some "ghosts" ;)

But ok... In a car park you have long ways, which you still could use as a bowling alley :D

man, i know that it's wrong to ask, but could you pls share some info about shooting panoramas?
it fails to merge it if there are any straight lines =(

don't worry, it's not wrong... :D
I'm still in my experimenting phase...
It depends, on which lense and which camera I use. If I use a compact one or a straight 50mm or 30mm lense, I shoot at maximum in 10°-steps, in areas, where I need more details, or there would be to much bended lines I shoot in 5° steps from left to right or from right to left, that's indifferent.
If I use a wideangle like my 17-85mm, I can also proceeed in 20° and 10° steps.
If I shoot in JPG, then the program "autostitch" works in the fastest way, when I shoot in RAW, then I stitch them together in Photoshop, especially, when I do HDR.
I make at first my three panoramas from the under-, normal-, and overexposed ones and then I copy two of them into the third one and use the auto-align funcion in Photoshop, so that the images will be aligned. Then I select the area I want, copy it into a new file and save them as a 16bit-tiff-file and now I have my three exposures to work in Photomatix like on every HDR-file ;)

Ok, I think, that's a weird explanation...
If I have the time, I will make a tutorial about it :)
I hope you can wait some time for it, because I'm very busy these days :D
